While there has been a whirlwind of activity lately here in DC and in town hall meetings across the country, uncertainty still abounds as issues like healthcare reform and immigration take center stage and dominate discussions. Meanwhile, the team at SAF has been busy coordinating with partners and reaching out to agency and congressional champions on strategies for advocating for priority issues.

This week, on behalf of the Sustainable Urban Forests Coalition, SAF and American Forests will be taking urban forestry professionals to visit their congressional delegations to discuss the importance of federal funding for urban and community forestry activities, and how they contribute to economic growth, job creation, and improved community health and wellness. As supporting organizations of Water Week 2017, we will also be highlighting how and why forests and trees should be incorporated into water and infrastructure planning and projects.
