Gordon T. Bamford
Gordon was elected Fellow in 1996. He received a B.S. degree in forestry from Pennsylvania State University in 1940 and earned an M.S. degree in forestry from Yale University in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a first lieutenant in a field artillery battalion of the 81st Infantry Division that fought many battles in the South Pacific. He spent his entire career with the NJ Forest Service beginning as a service forester and eventually becoming State Forester in 1975. He retired as State Forester in 1983. He was a founding member of the NJ Chapter of the Allegheny SAF in 1950 (now the NJ Division), NJ Chapter chair in 1957, past editor of the “Allegheny News”, and a member of the Pennington Town Shade Tree Commission for many years. Gordon died in 2014 at the age of 96.
